Artist’s Way Workbook Club
A 12-Week Creative Practice & Community Group
Creative Haverhill is bringing together a small group of local artists, writers, makers, and creative humans who want to build a consistent creative practice and find community by working through Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way together.
This is not a class or a lecture series. It’s a low-pressure, supportive peer group designed for people who want accountability, encouragement, and space to show up honestly in their creative lives. The goal is simple: create regular creative habits, deepen your practice, and build relationships with people who get it.
If you’ve ever started The Artist’s Way and drifted off, or if you’re craving structure and community to support your creative work, this group is for you.
Program Overview
Purpose
To create a structured but flexible peer group where artists can develop sustainable creative habits, explore The Artist’s Way together, and build real community along the way.
Structure

Group size of 6–12 artists
Sessions are 75–90 minutes
In-person meetings preferred
Facilitation rotates weekly
Shared group chat and/or Google Drive for check-ins and encouragement
What a Typical Session Looks Like
Each weekly gathering follows a gentle, repeatable structure so everyone knows what to expect:
Opening Grounding (5 minutes)
A quick creative energy check-in to arrive and settle.
Week-in-Review (20–25 minutes)
Sharing how Morning Pages and Artist Dates went, plus one win and one stuck point.
Chapter Discussion (30 minutes)
Conversation around 2–3 key themes from the week’s chapter, with optional reflection or short writing prompts.
Mini Creative Exercise (10–15 minutes)
Fast, playful, zero-stakes activities to loosen up and reconnect with creativity.
Closing Intentions (5 minutes)
Each person names one small, doable creative intention for the week ahead.
Curriculum Focus
Each week centers on one chapter of The Artist’s Way, including themes such as:
Safety, Identity, Power, Integrity, Possibility, Abundance, Connection, Strength, Compassion, Self-Protection, Autonomy, and Faith.
Community Norms
This group is built on care, trust, and encouragement. Together, we commit to:
Showing up as we are
Prioritizing consistency over perfection
Offering encouragement only (no unsolicited critique)
Protecting the psychological safety of the group
Allowing creativity to be weird, slow, joyful, confusing, and non-linear
Optional Extras
Buddy system for extra accountability
Weekly artist-date brag thread
Midpoint social gathering in Week 6
Final celebration or shared zine in Week 12
