Thank you for visiting our city on line. Haverhill is moving forward and experiencing a renaissance. It's easy to understand why Haverhill was voted the top city to live in the Northeast by Money Magazine in 1995 and why the Boston Globe called Haverhill "the picture of progress".
There is so much to do in Haverhill. During the winter, ski on our ski slopes. In the summer, experience the might of the Merrimack River by land or by boat as it provides walking, jogging, and boating opportunities. Play a round of golf at our many 18-hole courses, participate in a pick-up game at the Riverside baseball parks, or enjoy the scenic views around Kenoza Lake at Winnekenni Castle.
Every season, come downtown to our thriving arts district, to see the historic Queen Anne architecture of our old shoe buildings or to eat in our nineteen restaurants located downtown.
When you are here, you will see why, of the cities in the country, the Wall Street Journal chose Haverhill as the one city in the country to highlight that was doing well in the recession. Here is what the Journal said:
“Hard hats swarm empty brick factory buildings, turning them into upscale apartment complexes. New restaurants are opening, a suit manufacturer relocated here this spring, and the city recently got its first two national chain stores. Property-tax receipts are rising.”
If you are a business seeking to locate in our city, welcome! In addition to this web site, please also check out www.mvmb.biz. There you will find updated information on available sites, including zoning information, census tract data, ownership information, property size and other useful data to help you make the decision to locate here in our city. You’ll soon see that Haverhill Means Business, and why retailers like Lowe’s, Starbucks, Beacon Companies and BJ’s Wholesale Club have chosen to expand into Haverhill. We are business friendly. Most of our permits are available on line to be copied and printed.
Our City of Haverhill web site provides you a chance to do business with city hall on line. You can check which jobs are available, and can download a job application. Whether you are applying for a permit, looking for a marriage license, or just want to see the hours of operation of each department, you can do a good deal of it on line.
